Introductory Post for "A View From The '

I'm sitting here, saying to myself, "You know, you've hunted enough people tonight, and you've lost forty gold on constitution..." My head drops slightly and I feel it, the sadness creeping in. Not sadness purely from knowing that I should log off, but also from knowing I lost money tonight. It's not that hard a thing to do, really, considering the fact that once you get high enough you spend a lot of money just buying back constitution. Just not a good night, overall.
And in that moment of pure need, of pure despair, I see it. At first I'm not certain, my eyes dart about furiously, searching for something they recognize. My heart stops with the last camera-view spin I do, my Companion standing beside me staring and waiting silently for my command. I see it again, a flash of blue, and black. It's over my right shoulder, coming in slow. At first I cannot discern what it is, I swear out loud at the computer, wishing it wasn't as old as it was. So useless, though I swear I only bought it two years ago!
It's still moving, erratic at first but now I can recognize it, a giant lumbering troll, heading straight at me. He stops for a mere second, which immediately slides the situation to my favour. My back is to him, and I know he's counting on me not knowing how to use my camera-view. I smile then, "Well hello Thetank, it is nice to... OWN you!" I laugh then, telling my pet to attack. I wait for it, seeing my Companion turn and take a fighting stance as the troll begins moving forward again. That's what I was waiting for. I hit hotkey 2, Face, immediately hitting 3 after it, Stun. My tiny arms come out flying, balls of energy warping around my hands. I push 5, the button I like to call "Xtreem Dmg!" The messages come up and the troll stops, stunned, as blast after blast of white -magic from my pet- screams into his chest. My middle finger is mashing 5 as Thetank's health decreases, his name is written in yellow and he's going down fast. My stun lasts eight seconds, so I know right away that I've gotten two spells off, therefore after the third he'll be moving. My third Spell of Light begins and is thrown in two seconds, Thetank is down to one-third health. My Companion fires off another spell - One-quarter now....
And suddenly everything stops. This fateful moment where two enemies collide sometimes even from across continents, both searching and scrambling for that ever-elusive 50th level. That moment where they watch their enemy fall and they remain standing. It truly was a beautiful moment, my heart was pounding in my chest. BANG! The troll falls, screaming, my hands exploding with a huge directed blast of white pointing straight at the troll like the flash from a gun. He continues to flash, rings of colour encircling him. It's over. His body hits the ground, a bag of coins falling at his feet.
I stand there for a mere split second before running to his corpse. It lays there, unmoving. I collect my loot and turn to head back. I take about 4 steps and stop, slowly turning to face the troll's dead body. Finally, as I face it, I sit to meditate and regain some power. Now has come my time. This is my time to gloat, to make this poor Thetank face his demise and agonize in my victory. My fingers tap furiously, burning across the keyboard as fast they can. I smile and deliver the message I had used all night. It was awesome, by far my favourite. It expressed in one foul swoop my appreciation in his death, of the battle that was fought though ultimately won by me.
I sit back in my chair, arms crossing my chest, rereading what I wrote to make sure it came out right:
"Good fight man. Just lucky I saw you early! ;P" written in white.
"Ya : ( Thought I had ya. GJ!" written in blue.
Can't we all just get along, and hunt each other nicely?

Greetings all! My handle is C-Note, and I am pleased to have brought you the above short story and moral. I am hoping to bring to you the pure average player's perspective on all things DAoC, as well as some writings, expressions, and just plain good ole fashion reading.
I can roleplay, I can even do it hardcore, and yet I can also hit up a lazy relaxing night of pure shop-talk and XP on a normal server, or of course do some PvP, which will be the base for this column. I am offering a column for the Pvpers by a PvPer. I hope all of you who frequent the 'Dreds will appreciate my point of view on everything from guilds to gold.
I'll play any class, even if it's only to see what they can do. It is from that that I consider myself an average player. I don't know all the ins and outs of commands and buttons and spells and items... And to be quite frank, I don't really want to know them. All I am looking for is a fun time mashing some buttons, meeting some people, and hunting all sorts of creatures. Like I said, average guy, just talking about stuff that I notice, as well as news, DAoC inspired writings, trivia, etc.
I should also mention that my column is open to submissions, so if you have any sort of rambling you want to share, perhaps a piece like the above, please send it to me.
Ciao, happy hunting, and remember: Nobody likes a grey-ganker... And nobody likes a whiner, either.
