Over Outlook of Opinions

Deina

I'm in a very sour mood right now...

One of our Guild mates is leaving us due to the fact that Mythic likes to play God! I'll give you the scenario and I hope the lot of you who read this, learn and spread the word...

I won't use their player name since I haven't been given permission to use it. Plus, I just want to save them face and hope that the many of you will understand that this could have happened to anyone at any given time. Anyhow, a couple of weeks ago, one of our Guild mates had their name changed. Mythic changed it for some unknown reason. Probably they saw the name and didn't like it. Probably someone appealed it just for spite. There could be any number of causes to this plight (hey I rhymed). But to the result of that change they are now leaving. And when I say leave, I mean they are leaving the game for good. Mythic chases off another customer for shameless and unreasonable changes.

A lot of that happens, the players appeal about it and CSR looks at it and decides whether or not it's debatable. Hell! There are a lot of things that I see in game that are debatable, but I don't appeal about it left and right. That is a good waste of my play time. The fact of the matter is, the Guild was told of the situation at hand about the name change. We even sent our own little emails in regards to this situation and told them how distasteful it was of them to do such a thing to a name that didn't break the rules at all! My god, I would be so rich out of the bum for everything that I saw wrong and distasteful in game! We all then received a letter from Mythic stating that our views had neither help nor hindrance on that matter. That's like telling me that I can give someone feedback on an issue, but it wouldn't matter anyhow, because they don't care about it. And that is honestly contradictory. The player even sent in their reasons as to why their name didn't break the rules, yet as I said before folks, it didn't matter to Mythic either way.

*shrugs*

It disheartens me to know that I play a game and support a small company that doesn't care about the thoughts of the customer. They only care about the thoughts of the customer if it helps the game itself, not the player quality time or how they feel about certain issues with naming technicalities, balance issues or RvR. They have promised a lot of things in the past and I for one am tired of hearing the same old drum beat. So, they have a new expansion coming out at the end of the year, just more problems to add to the very long list of inevitably. And it will get to the point where the customer base will drop due to the fact that they make so many promises, but never pay up in full.

So, does the customer really matter to them? Do they really listen to the words and the opinions of the player base that pays their salary? Do they honestly care about how someone feels about their character name being changed for some heartless reason? I don't know! I wish I knew the answer to all those questions. But to the latest developments that I have been seeing and hearing, not much of the stuff I'm seeing is the result of player entrusted advice and opinions. It's Mythic's way of saying, "Mommy knows what is best for you...so shut up and at your greens!"

I know, harsh as that sounds, but it's the truth. Though, if I were Mythic (though greatful I'm not), I would be doing everything in my power to help keep the player base happy, within reason though. That would include listening and reading opinions and Emails, using those polls more effectively, actually reading the Feedbacks that are sent on a daily basis, all that stuff and probably then some. I know Mythic can't please everyone, but there are some things that have been changed, or effected by them that have been tasteless and not worth it. I don't know what or how they handle those issues, but they don't do a very good job of it. Because if they did, I would be out in RvR more often than sitting on my plated hide crafting all the time...

So, I went off on a tangent, but tell me what you think! Do you really think that Mythic actually cares and pays attention to the players and their opinions? Or do you think they just do what they think if best regardless of what we think as a whole? You can send them to me at editor@warcry.com

And if a Mythic staffer does catch wind of this, I hope you do read the whole article and realize that this is just one opinion of many and would like to see a change for the better. I would hate to see your entire player base be run off by the effects that you bring upon them based on flawed and faulty decisions!
