Simple Server Selections

Deina

Just about everywhere I go, no matter what game that it may be, or the number of people that are playing it, there will always be that flourish of players that just don't respect the rules of ideas. I'll admit, there are times that I do go out of character a lot, however developing your character does take time and consideration, not only to the surroundings, but to other players as well. I've come to one rule when it comes to any game that has a huge number of various servers that have different specifications and rules, if you aren't going to play by the game or respect the server rules, then don't play on that server or the game.

Many people join servers for various reasons; those reason are their own of course. But I have found that when you join a server for the wrong reason when you are aware of the rules, but don't care, you are not only making it harder on yourself, but you aren't getting the full thrill of the game either. Especially in MOG's, there are many that want to join and sometimes for the wrong reasons...

Joining because friends did - Nothing wrong with this, but when a server has specific rules or ideals, respect them despite the fact that your friends are there. If your friends don't respect the rules, don't go out on the limb to join them in the effort in making the play awful for everyone else. You end up having lots and lots of people not wanting to do business with you or just ignore you out right. They have every right to do so since your may be doing more harm then good.

Play by the rules - if you joined a server that has specific rules or ideals, respect them well. You joined the server for some reason, so ask yourself why you did. If it was just b/c you felt like it, then ok. But just remember, there are those that are into the rules and game more than you may or may not be. If you joined an RP server, at least try and RP to some degree, just don't go 1337 on everyone because you will then have no one to help you progress. If you are on a PvP server, expect to make enemies. That server is not for the light of heart. Don't gripe b/c you get picked as the bait, gripe because you picked the wrong server to join and you can't handle it.

Newb Attitude - Don't try this at home kids. Eveyone hates a newb, especially one who doesn't grow out of it. Everyone was a Newb in the beginning, but once you have the basic idea and concept of MOG's, you aren't the newb anymore. You are what I like to call, the "MOG savvy". There are those that do not get the idea of MOG's at all and it is their first time playing in one. But if they choose to act like this in an extended period of time, then you know they are just either not acting their age, or just know that it's their way in getting what they want. Not everyone respects this attitude. And not everyone realizes that they do it. But at least try and grasp the concept of MOG's and online games. Get to know your community better and try to learn from it. You will be happy that you did later in the run of things. And this goes for any server!

All in all, just refrain from going to the wrong server. If you can't handle it, then go to another server. There are many that want to join a certain server, however can't due to others taking up space. Those servers are there to compliment those that want that form of interaction. Don't do it just because you wanted to and don't respect the rules. Do it because you wanted a new immersion and depth of MOG's as a whole.
