The Good, The Bad, and The Sneakers!
In all my history of playing games, I have always been the one to play the buffed and brawny fighter! Hardly have I ever been able to pick up a glowy stick to cast spells, or a pair of butter knives and lurk between the shadows! But I'm always willing to try something new when I feel courageous, and even then I'm haplessly bounding back to my war cries and sword swinging!
But as my brave and tender soul became more aware and indulgent in the uniqueness of these classes, I came to a new understanding of not only what my limitations were, but also the pros and cons of some of these classes. I have to admit though, that my newbish attempts to stealth, or cast fire balls and sick pets at my enemies, doesn't cut the mustard like good ole' trusted metal! However, I'm willing to get to my point now...
I have recently been testing my luck with my new Infiltrator. And to my surprise, I love them! They are such a nifty little profession with such wonderful abilities! They can sneak about and back stab with little or no error, taking down the enemy or critter with little time at all. Their abilities to use poisons; to aide them in their never ending pursuit of back stabbing. They can also climb walls and give the group detailed reports of where the enemy might be and where they are heading and how many there are! Who wouldn't like the idea of that? Well, I sure do! Makes me wish that my Paladin could do all of that and then some! However, there is a downside to this little menagerie of Infiltrator life, and that's grouping. Yes, one of the other concepts that I have talked about before in my previous sound out, but this issue will never waver nor die in my eyes.
It has come to my conclusion that Infiltrators really do have it hard. The moment to strike while the iron is hot is a game of patience, and not many have that! That's where grouping comes into play, however not as much for the Infiltrator. Why, do you ask? Well, for one, when it comes to groups, setting up in its own right takes a few. The damage you do compared to the hard core fighters, doesn't really touch it. Only when they are able to make the contact successful is when their damage counts. And when you do miss, you just may as well sit yourself down and cry your puddle of tears. Also, when you try to position yourself for a strike while you are in stealth mode, it would just so happen that another critter would see you and unhide you, making the strike worthless! And you would just have to go sit back down and cry more puddles of tears! This honestly hurts the Infiltrator in a lot of ways, due to their styles being justified on the fact if they are stealthed or not. Not all of them do, but to make the first strike worth something, it does.
Then you have the Minstrels. Poor Minstrels strumming away 24/7. Not being able attack like the others, and only used for their talents. Being told by the group to run chant heal, or power song, run this, run that. Not allowed to make any strike on a critter because you are running songs for your group. *sighs* It's really sad it is to see such a supportive class like that being abused in such a manner. Yes, I call it abuse! And I do because that person playing that class would like to be more involved than just running their talents for you. So, what if you get killed a few times in the process, it's not like that the heal chant or power song would have made any distinctive changes in the outcome of the battle! Yeah, they can sit there and gain free exp without doing much of nothing, but the fun in that does degrade itself and they will eventually want to get involved more.
I can't complain too much about Scouts, since I don't see too much commotion about them. But I'm sure I can find something that will make the luster lack on the finish sooner or later. I'm not criticizing the classes in any way. I'm stating observations and recounting issues that I have talked with other people about. And these issues can either be a help or a hindrance. My views on these classes are inconsequential to how you view your own characters.
But they also have their bright sides as well! Both the Infiltrator and the Minstrel are divining qualities in RvR and even in major PvE. Being able to sneak about and take out key leaders or players in moments of struggle. Able to speed off with little effort when the fight gets too dangerous! Able to get reports without being spotted and keeping one step ahead of the enemy with both the Infiltrator's eyes, and Minstrel's tune. They both play an integral role in End game when you think about it though. Even though they are supportive and lack just a tad in Grouping for hunts, giving them the chance to meet their goals is what is needed if you want to keep ahead of your enemy! Everyone deserves the opportunity even though they aren't exactly what you are looking for in group support. But they have every right as you to level and gain the knowledge and experience that is needed to proceed and make the game fun not only for you, but for them as well!
My apologies for not having set up my Email for you just yet. But I will have it for you as soon as possible!
