It was once said that you should walk softly, and carry a big stick; The friars took that to heart. When a young acolyte feels compelled to take a more agressive stance against the enemies of the realm, he seeks out the Defenders of Albion and enters into the training of the Friars. Nimble masters of the quarterstaff, and posessed with some clerical ability as well, the Friar becomes as dangerous as any other warrior when confronted in his own element.
While travelling alone, a Friar is quite a match for most opponants, though they can't take quite as much punishment as a life-trained warrior. Much of their combat ability stems from their unsurpassed ability to dodge incoming attacks, as well as some devastating staff skills. And after the battle, a few healing spells are all it takes for this holy warrior to be back on his feet and on the move again.
As part of a hunting group, a Friar is quite capable of taking on nearly any role. If the group has plenty of muscle, the Friar can stand back and let his healing magics work for him, or if it's rather weak in physical power he's quite capable of taking the point himself. Any group should welcome the aid of a Friar.
