When a Mage joins the Academy, he takes a different path than the Elementalist - while his cousins wield the external powers of the elements, the Sorcerer masters the powers of the mind, even to the point where he can impose his will on other, less intelligens, beings. Things control can be used to cause them to attack their former allies, and is very well combined with an assortment of weakening and disease spells.
A sorcerer alone relies on their mental superioroty to pass unscathed. They can stop enemies in their tracks with a moment's thought, turning to a charmed minion to handle the physical challenges. Should no assistance be available, the Sorcerer can turn to his line of disease spells, and even use his powers to directly attack his opponents mind.
Within a group, the Sorcerer is best suited to support the heavier warriors - whether they be other realmmates or his own charmed minion. His weakening spells are near the equal of the Cabalist, and he adds to that the ability to stun and confuse not only individual enemies, but entire groups as well, giving the party a moment to focus on a more immediate threat before vanquishing their additional enemies.
