Briton

In the world of Albion, Britons are the average race, able to do anything yet have no specific traits that set them apart from the other races. This also means that they don't suffer from any of the disabilities of the other races, being stronger than the Avalonians and Saracens, and faster than the Highlanders.

One defining feature of the Britons is their sole ability to become a Friar, being the only single-race class in the game. Their other defining trait is having all possible classes of the realm open to them, also a unique trait within DAoC. While neither of these may make the Britons excel at any specific task, they are well suited to do anything, and perform especially well on hybrid classes where balance is encouraged.

Avalonian

As a natural citizen of the city of Avalon, one is expected to be more interested in feats of the mind than feats of the body, and this shows its effect in the stature and abilities of the Avalonians. They are tall, dextrous, and intelligent - the most intelligent of all the Albion citizens - yet not very strong.

These traits make them natural mages, and in fact an Avalonian has a much more natural feel for magic than any other Albion race. The sole exception to the trend towards magic is the rare Avalonian Paladin, yet in this case their high intelligence helps them not with the piety-based prayers, and will never be as physically powerful as their more sturdy brethren.

Saracen

Descendants of the noble Sir Palomides, the Saracens are a nimble and agile race almost out of their element in the world of Albion. In this trend, they tend to choose classes a tad more unsavory than the other Albion residents. Slightly on the weaker side of the norm, yet not so much as the Avalonians, they make up for it with their speed and accuracy.

Saracens are natural rogues, and will make superb Scouts, Minstrels, and Infiltrators. Depending on their tendancy for heavy combat, a number of them will instead become Mercenaries, where their fast attacks will be even more pronounced, and a number may also choose to learn the more destructive powers of magic.

Highlander

The doughty warriors of Highlands are to brawn what the Avalonians are to brain, that is the height of it's archetype in Albion. This strength is countered by also being the slowest race of Albion, though not nearly so much as those of other realms. Oh, and a warning; they call it a kilt because that's what happened to the first person to call it a skirt.

Highlanders make excellent warriors, and have nearly no magical abilities at all. The exception to this is the Cleric, yet even in this instance the mace will likely be used more than the prayer. Although the Highlanders can also choose a more rogue-like career, their immense size and reduced dexterity make them more suited to bashing things over the head than sneaking around in the shadows.

Inconnu - Shrouded Isles Expansion Race

The Inconnu, (Inconnu meaning "mysterious") short, pale underground creatures of Albion are the expansion class for that realm. Their large, dark eyes, whiteish skin and pale hair bring them to stand out amidst a crowd of otherwise normal-looking humans in Albion. According to lore, the Inconnu want to ally with the Britons to retake the island of Avalon, which has been taken over by Morgana and her forces.

Inconnu characters make excellent Necromancers and Reavers, serving their god of the underworld, Arawn in the process.
