The Quickbar

More than any other part of the interface, the understanding and use of the quickbar is the most important. Proper use of this tool is the key to most everything in DAoC, from the use or spells and styles all the way to crafting items with your tradeskills or changing weapons in combat. By default, this is located at the top right of your screen, and is displayed vertically, though you can switch it to a horizontal layout if you so desire.

The quickbar has eight slots, and there are eight different sets avalable, which should allow you to be prepared for several different circumstances. For example, the first image to the right is of my primary quickbar, which I use for general combat - it contains my healing spells and some combat styles. If I press Shift+2 on the keyboard it will change to the image you see next to it, which is the quickbar I do for combat preparation and recovery, which contains my clerical buffs. I use another bar for tradeskills, and others for more specific uses.

In order to add a spell, skill, style, or any other thing to your quickbar, you simply need to click on the icon and then drop it into an empty slot. To remove an item, hold down the Shift key and right-click on the icon you want to remove. You can also place text commands on the quickbar by typing /macro [command] into the chatbox, and then placing the icon that appears on your mouse cursor in the bar like any other - almost anything can be placed into a macro.

To use things in your quickbar, you can either click on the icon with your mouse, or use the number keys across the top of your keyboard instead. As you can guess, the keys 1-8 correspond to the slots with the same numbers. To switch between quickbar sets, you can either click on the arrows to cycle between them, or you can press the Shift key and the number of the quickbar you'd like to view. Mastering the use of this feature is very important, so practice well.

NOTE: As of the Shrouded Isle expansion, The Quick Bar has been enlarged to include 10 slots (1-0) and there are now 10 quickbars instead of eight - Vidi
